Recently my husband and I took a seven day trip to Anguilla, one of the most beautiful British West Indies islands in the Caribbean. Anguilla is 16 miles long by 3 miles at its widest point. Indubitably, one of the most stunning places I've ever visited.

We stayed at a dreamy resort called Belmond Cap Juluca. Which is located on the west end of Anguilla and situated on Maundays Bay, celebrated as Anguilla's finest beach. We first landed in St. Maarten's international airport. From the main island of St. Maarten we took a boat (about a 25 minute ride) to Anguilla.

A timeless and sophisticated decor throughout the Belmond Cap Juluca resort made it feel like the ultimate barefoot luxury escape.

The rooms are actually villas. Each villa offers a "fall-off-your-chair" private ocean view terrace. We would have breakfast out on the terrace every morning.

Outside of your villa, you will find cozy beach chairs and a convenient button to call the mixologist for service.

Every part of this luxury Anguilla hotel is designed to enchant. The resort delivers on captivating fresh rooms and guest areas. Every detail will take your breath away.

These came very handy to get around the resort. They also offered golf carts.

Anguilla offers an array of activities you can do during your stay. Anything from water sports, hiking, exploring caves, golf and my favorite... horse back riding.

There is a certain calmness and freedom that comes with horseback riding along Anguilla's famous beaches and coastal areas. We were led by experienced guides who completed the ride with an unforgettable swim with the horses in the Tropical Caribbean Sea.

We explored the historic Cavana Cave after a hike through the Katouche Forest, filled with unique trails.

We spent a full day sailing aboard a catamaran that took us to Prickly Pear. Once we arrived, we enjoyed the day relaxing on the beach, snorkeling, speed boat tubing and paddle boarding.

Even though, the culinary experience at Cap Juluca Resort was out of this world, we did venture out one night for a local experience. We ended up at Elvi's Beach Bar, a local restaurant & bar featured on the Travel Channel.

Anguilla has surpassed our expectations as a vacation destination. We were overwhelmed with the beauty of the island, the many entertaining activities it offers and most of all it's people. The local folks of Anguilla have a resilient heart and the friendliest smiles. I'm sure we will be back!
